A new level of listening to music without touching the screen

Overview

A music app that identifies songs by the number of notes, words or rhythm, simply by voice control

Just say the name of the artist or the song, hum some sounds and Hey Music will make sure to play it for you.

First, I tested the need for such an application in a survey I conducted, which included over 200 participants.

Personas

Following the survey I put together 3 types of personas to help me better understand needs of future users.

Amit Cohen | 25 | single | Tel Aviv

Amit is an undergraduate student in software engineering. He listens to music mostly while traveling or working on projects

"I would like to be exposed more often to new and interesting musical content. Also, I want to have the option of adding comments.”

Tamar Regev 37 widow + 3 Karmiel

Tamar is a full-time mother and business owner. She listens to music almost all day, while cleaning, cooking or working..

"I wish I didn’t have to constantly touch my phone or the remote, but just tell the app what I want!"

Renana Shalom | 30 | married + 1 Haifa

Renana is a hotel maintenance manager, a wife and a mother. She listens to music on day-to-day basis at work or at home with her kid.

"I would like the app to make some sort of separation between my content and that of my kid's, because I really don't feel like tuning to kid songs before a meeting".

Pain Points

Users don’t want to touch the phone while driving, soil their phone while cooking and cleaning or stop running for a song search.

Most users want to search fast

1

Users want to interact

Users want to add comments and interact with others and find out about new releases of musical content.

2

There is no separation between users

The songs of all house members are mixed together, confuse user search algorithm and change their playlists.

3
The Solution

How do we improve?

2.png

An AI feature that recognizes a melody through rhythm, hum,  singing or a few words

A feed that shows friends' likes and comments + notifications on new songs released by favorite artists

4.png
3.png

Option to comment and like within a song or artist’s song list

Possibility of separating users in the same account (depending on the program)

Color Palette

Choose a palette of colors with strong contrasts, instead of a light-and-dark tone, to signal party vibes and invite users into a new world
